Location: Cairo, Egypt
Inspired by an incredible site and the challenges of a huge complex development, the interior took cues from the surrounding site; the strong lines of the historic cistern wall, and rock topographies of the land that runs next to the site.
This resulted in a strong force that cuts down the center of the entrance that splits the space into two “symmetrical parts” where art deco principles are articulated by the materiality of natural stones throughout the space. The absence of this strong force, the “invisible wall”, which appears to run through the space and leaves behind a highlighted double height space and floor and back wall that draws circulation towards the elevator lobbies.
