This roof-top apartment is located in the heart of Cairo and was converted from a run-down roof-top space into a comfortable, modern loft space. The old structure was demolished and replaced by one with cleaner and more elegant lines. It comprises a large living area, an open kitchen and a large floor to ceiling book-case.  A large, well equipped open-plan kitchen acts as the focus of family life and meets the owners'  passion for cooking and entertaining. High ceilings and efficient air-conditioning ensure a comfortable ambient temperature and efficient insulation from street noise.

The living room at the opposite end of the room sustains the color theme and the emphasis on comfort and simplicity. The hardwood floor acts as a unifying design feature for the whole room. The designers were determined to make the terrace an extension of the apartment, dividing it into several sitting areas: wood decking demarcates one while another has a canopy above it and the fireplace serves as another focal point. The rock garden, the cladding of white marble on the wall and the soft canvas awning create a sense of harmony between the terrace and the living space inside.
